A subspecies of Roptera, the Hopper Ropteras are known to leap quickly from a hiding spot on the ground to bite their intended target. While them getting a bite can sustain them for days, their mouths are so dirty the resulting bite rapidly becomes infected so severely amputation or death can result. The males have a larger head and are less agile than the females, and in their youth are the size of a pack of playing cards before doubling in size for the first three years.
