Appearing to walk across the ocean floor, Horsei have spiny scales that lock onto other creatures and secrete digestive fluids to begin digesting their meals externally. While it does not have a traditional mouth, they suck back the liquified flesh back in through their scales to get the nutrients out of it. The males are traditionally about half the length of the females, who can reach up to thirty centimeters long.
